FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What if I'm a bit younger than 40?
The suitable ages are a guide only - we are age inclusive and all are welcome.
2. How many women are in each makeup class?
COVID-19 has meant that only small groups of friends or family are able to come together.
Hands-on makeup masterclasses have a maximum of 4 women.
3. Will I get time with Amanda?
Amanda guides you through the class. She demonstrates the makeup techniques and shows you the way. Amanda has a Makeup Assistant - so yes, Amanda ensures she can get around to everyone and help each of you. There are always 2 of us to assist you with technique, product, and colour choice.
4. Do I need to bring my own makeup and makeup brushes?
We provide everything you will need. However we do like you to bring the makeup you use regularly and any makeup brushes that you already have so you can practice using them, plus we can help you declutter makeup you're currently using, we can provide advice on makeup products you may need to add to your collection. We simply don't want you to feel like you've got to go out and buy a bunch of new products. If we can help you repurpose the makeup you already have then that's great too.
5. Do I need to bring my own mirror?
We provide makeup mirrors - however, if your eyesight is failing and you use a magnifying makeup mirror at home, please bring it with you.
6. What products do you use?
We have a broad selection of professional makeup and effective skincare. We bring both traditional and 100% natural, ethical beauty brands. All products are hand-picked by Amanda and are used directly out of her professional makeup kit. These are products that Amanda genuinely uses on a professional job and are carefully curated.
7. Are you aligned with a makeup brand?
We are completely independent and not aligned with any one brand. The makeup used in every class is carefully curated - and hand picked by Amanda - over 18 years of experience as a professional makeup artist. All makeup used in the class is genuinely what Amanda uses. We do not advocate for any brands or products that we don't wholeheartedly believe are the best.
8. I have really sensitive and problematic skin. Will this class be okay for me?
Absolutely. We have a fabulous selection of 100% natural makeup that is free from all synthetic ingredients. Please just let us know before you arrive for your class and bring the skincare you are currently using. And please let us know if you are currently using Retinol/Vitamin A, Effudix (topical chemotherapy) or skincare with AHA's.
9. I really want to do one of your makeup classes but you don't offer makeup classes in my hometown.
We offer personal one-on-one beauty video consultations (using Zoom) so we can help you anywhere in the world! Plus The Shine Sessions: is an online Members Only version of the in-person classes - available to anyone, anywhere in the World.
10. I'd like to do a makeup class with a group of friends. Do you run private makeup classes?
Yes, we do. But with COVID-19 safe work practices, these are only available in Amanda's studio in Currumbin. You must complete a health and safety questionnaire, declare that you've not been overseas or in a break-out zone, nor in contact with anyone that has traveled to a red zone. In the interest of protecting you, the community, and Amanda and her family we reserve to right to cancel if we suspect you have a cold and have not declared this. The class will not go ahead, your money will be refunded.
